 Volunteer Benefits

“Service is the rent we pay for being. It is the very purpose of life, and not something you do in your spare time.”

Marian Wright Edelman

Seaglass Village is an all-volunteer organization and relies on those who are willing to donate their talents and time to assist their neighbors—frequently people they do not even know. We cannot exist without our Volunteers!

Our Volunteers create a strong network of resources that enables our senior residents to stay connected to the people and activities that are important to them. A Member can also be a Volunteer, paying it forward for the services they need.  For example, someone who is no longer driving may ask for help shopping or for a ride to a medical appointment. That same person could be a computer or gardening wiz and be able to help someone else. This is the definition of neighbor helping neighbor!

How Volunteering Works

How to Register as a Volunteer

  • Submit a volunteer application, selecting what kind of assistance you would like to provide
  • Agree to undergo a background check (CORI) and meet any other Volunteer requirements
  • Receive an email from Seaglass Village to set up a training
  • Attend a brief training session

How to Volunteer for a Specific Task

After training, you will be on our roster and automatically receive emails when a Member places a request.

  • Select a Member’s request that you can fulfill, based on your availability (most activities last two hours)
  • Communicate directly with the Member to set up a specific time or place or any other requirements
  • When you have completed the task, notify the Seaglass Village office by emailing info@seaglassvillage.org or by calling 781-718-0401.

Marblehead, Nahant, and Swampscott residents of all ages are encouraged to become Volunteers. We welcome Volunteers and Members of every race, color, gender identification, faith, sexual orientation, and cultural group.
